Using another bet to change how a loss feels.
Sometimes continuing is about keeping open the possibility of a different ending.
Stopping after a loss makes the number feel final. Another bet gives you something else to think about: if this one wins, the night could still turn out okay.
That chance of relief can be appealing even when you understand the odds. The difficult part isn’t always a mistaken calculation. It can be tolerating the result that has already happened.
The next wager still brings another possible loss. Trying to get rid of the feeling can create a larger amount to feel bad about.
A break means living with the unfinished feeling for a while. If you keep returning to the app despite wanting to stop, someone to talk to and barriers to further betting may be more useful than another explanation of the math.
